2021 — ongoing practice

While graduating from a Bachelor's in Fashion Design from Polytechnic University of Milan I realised how much fabric scraps I had left in my apartment. On top of that, I had grown a love for thrifting clothes that had me surrounded with textiles. This context gave me the idea of altering and transforming my clothes without buying any new fabric. Shortly after my first experiments, I began collecting textiles from people close to me. Through word-of-mouth, I quickly filled my parents' home with boxes full of fabrics and second-hand garments.

I continued collecting and upcycling textiles throughout my Master's degree, practicing and learning about the impact and limitations of the upcycling process. The passion for this topic led me to write my research thesis about it. The thesis explored a design-driven value chain for the fashion industry based on upcycling techniques using locally-sourced textiles. It highlighted the importance of implementing digital technologies in the process, as well as a local textile heritage.

After my graduation, I started working as industrial designer in the leather goods industry. This allowed me to integrate high-quality lambskin and calfskin as raw materials in my upcycling portfolio.
